Advancing Pelvic Muscle Rehabilitation Through Interferential Therapy

Pelvic floor dysfunction is a common yet often overlooked issue that affects both men and women. It can lead to problems such as: - Urinary incontinence (stress, urge, or mixed incontinence). - Pelvic organ prolapse (weak pelvic floor muscles leading to organ displacement). - Postpartum pelvic weakness (difficulty in regaining muscle strength after childbirth). - Chronic pelvic pain (due to muscle spasms, tension, or nerve sensitivity). - Sexual dysfunction (reduced sensation or pain during intercourse). - Post-prostatectomy recovery (pelvic rehabilitation after prostate surgery in men). Traditional treatments, such as Kegel exercises, require long-term commitment and may not always provide significant improvement for severe cases. PelviStrength offers an advanced, non-invasive solution for deep pelvic muscle stimulation, enhancing recovery and function.

How it is used in a session

PelviStrength uses Interferential Therapy (IFT) to deliver deep, comfortable electrical stimulation to activate and rehabilitate pelvic muscles effectively.

  1. Electrode Placement

Electrodes are placed externally on the lower abdomen, sacral region, or inner thighs (depending on the condition being treated).

  2. Interferential Currents Generation

The device generates two high-frequency electrical currents that intersect at a targeted point within the pelvic muscles.

    • Carrier Frequencies: Two medium-frequency currents are delivered simultaneously and intersect to produce therapeutic low-frequency effects.
    • Pain-Free Penetration: Due to the frequency range, the stimulation penetrates deeper tissues without discomfort or skin irritation.
  3. Deep Muscle Activation

The interaction of these currents creates a low-frequency stimulation effect, activating deep pelvic floor muscles more effectively than standard electrical muscle stimulation.

  4. Increased Blood Flow & Healing

The stimulation enhances circulation, reducing inflammation and promoting muscle recovery.

  5. Neuromuscular Re-education

The repeated stimulation helps the brain reconnect with weakened muscles, improving voluntary control over pelvic functions.

Who it helps

Urinary Incontinence Management

  • Stress Incontinence: Strengthens pelvic floor muscles to prevent urine leakage during coughing, sneezing, or lifting.
  • Urge Incontinence: Improves bladder control by reducing involuntary bladder contractions.
  • Mixed Incontinence: Addresses both stress and urge incontinence for comprehensive management.

Postpartum & Post-Surgical Recovery

  • After Childbirth: Helps restore weakened pelvic floor muscles, preventing long-term complications.
  • Post-Hysterectomy or Gynecological Surgery: Supports healing and muscle function restoration.
  • Post-Prostate Surgery Rehabilitation: Aids men in regaining bladder control and pelvic strength.

Pelvic Organ Prolapse Support

  • Helps in the early stages of prolapse by strengthening muscles that support pelvic organs.
  • Can complement pessary use or surgical recovery for better muscle conditioning.

Sexual Health and Dysfunction Treatment

  • Enhances pelvic muscle tone, leading to improved sensation and function.
  • Helps with dyspareunia (painful intercourse) by relieving pelvic muscle spasms.

Chronic Pelvic Pain & Musculoskeletal Issues

  • Reduces pain and muscle tightness associated with pelvic myofascial pain syndrome.
  • Assists in hip and lower back pain relief by stabilizing pelvic support muscles.

Before it is used on you

  • Do not place electrodes on broken or irritated skin.
  • Not recommended during pregnancy without medical supervision.
  • Avoid use with pacemakers or implanted electrical devices.
  • Consult a medical professional before starting therapy.
