I am a qualified physiotherapist with 2+ years experience working in clinical setup and home visits. I am a certified dry needling and kinesiotaping practioner. If am passionate about changing people's lives by relieving pain, building their strength and endurance so that they can do the activities they love.
It is a very safe and effective procedure using 0.13 mm diameter sterile needles inserted into painful muscle triggers to relieve pain, muscle tightness and open the fascia (connective tissue covering the muscle). Overall it improves muscle function.
A detailed assessment and history will be done by me, your physiotherapist to ascertain if this procedure is recommended for you.
1-10 needles may be inserted into the muscle and fascia at a time depending on your condition, and muscle bulk.
It is usually completely painless and does not draw blood. But in case of severe muscle triggers and tightness, discomfort, muscle twitch and pain may be felt temporarily.
It is common to feel some numbness, soreness and heaviness in the region of dry needling for up to 24-48 hours after the procedure.
If you have very sensitive skin, broken skin, skin infections, diabetes, and/or phobia of needles, this procedure will not be recommended for you.

This includes a detailed history and assessment for your condition.
It will include questions related to how your pain and other symptoms started, the duration of your symptoms and signs, and a detailed examination of your movements, muscle strength, and other relevant assessments.
At the end of the consultation I will explain about your condition, and how physiotherapy treatment will benefit you. I will also explain which pain modalities (eg. IFT, US) is appropriate for your condition and whether other procedures like dry needling is required. The expected total duration (eg. Days, weeks or months) of recovery, and the frequency of treatment sessions will also be explained.
After this it will be solely your decision to move ahead with the physiotherapy treatment.
